Gibson S1 Review
Random question really but I have a Gibson F9 that was produced on May 14, 2014 according to the sticker in the mandolin. The serial number is 40507011. My understanding of Gibson serial numbers is either they are
YDDDYBRRR where Y = year, D = julian date, B = batch, and R = rolling production number
OR
YYRRRRRRR
According to either method, my mandolin was produced in 1940 (or 2040). I know this was produced on 5/14/2014. Just a random question - what's the proper breakdown of that number?
